The last Hollywood star at the time of silent cinema, Diana Serra Cary, a former child prodigy known as Baby Peggy, born on October 29, 1918 as Peggy Jean Montgomery, died on February 24 in Gustine, California at the age of 101 years. Accidentally landed at the cinema at just 19 months, in 1924 Baby Peggy had already appeared in 150 short films (most of which are unfortunately lost). Diana Serra Cary had been repeatedly celebrated at the Pordenone Silent Film Days which "today weep - in the words of the director Jay Weissberg - both the delightful little star with a prodigious sense of comedy and comic times as the friend and mentor who has overcome unimaginable difficulties. The emptiness he leaves is enormous but his legacy is safe and the Days will continue to celebrate the gifts he has left us ".
Diana Serra Cary - Baby Peggy was a guest and muse for three consecutive editions of the Giornate, from 2004 to 2006. (ANSA).
