(ANSA) - NEW DELHI, FEBRUARY 26 - The governor of Delhi, ArwindKejriwal, asked for a curfew and an army intervention in the east areas of the capital affected by the unrest and the clashes that have so far caused at least 20 dead and almost 200 wounded so far.
Congress Party president Sonia Gandhi called for the resignation of Interior Minister Amith Shah not to block the violence and allow the situation to escalate.
Prime Minister Modi wrote in a tweet: "I appeal to the sisters and brothers in Delhi to always maintain peace and brotherhood. It is essential that we return to normal as soon as possible". Tension remains very high in the affected areas, although no other incidents have been recorded so far. During the night, it took an injunction from the Delhiper High Court for police officers to create a security corridor to allow 20 wounded, hitherto treated in a neighborhood clinic, to be transferred to the hospital.
