La Paz, capital of the Mexican State of Baja California Sur, is as the name implies, a place full of tranquility. However, it is gaining more and more visitors, so it was chosen by TripAdvisor as one of the 20 emerging sites that will talk about in 2020. “Its old charm and its pleasant promenade full of art and restaurants with views to the waters inhabited by gray whales are some of the reasons why it is worth staying ”, highlights the travel website.
This is the second most visited destination after Los Cabos, which receives almost 1 million visitors a year, while La Paz had a flow of 275,000 tourists in 2017 according to INEGI data. This contrast in the number of visitors makes prices much lower than in the main destination and make it a haven of tranquility.
And there are several places that fall in love. One of them is Balandra beach, which has a fungus-shaped rock formation and is surrounded by a system of mangroves and cacti. It also has historical attractions such as the Cathedral of La Paz, which was built in the second half of the 19th century.

To the north of La Paz is the Holy Spirit Island, which is characterized by its biodiversity. Additionally, the Mogote dunes are another attraction of this desert destination. Loreto, one of the magical towns of Mexico and which is surrounded by the Sea of Cortez, is very close to the capital of South California. It is a mission founded in 1967 by the Jesuit order.
