2020-03-02T17:00:28.072Z

StaffMe, a student work platform, decided to insure its self-entrepreneurs itself. Hervé Novelli, representative of the sector, hopes to generalize this "spirit of responsibility".

Self-employed workers as well protected as employees, and continuing to benefit from the advantages of the statute. This is the objective of a platform specializing in student work, StaffMe, which since last month has offered its users free coverage covering the risks of occupational accidents.

Provided by the AXA group, protection takes place without any criterion of turnover or hours worked. On the program: a guarantee in the event of incapacity or death, but also offering the possibility of covering a sick leave, and coverage in addition to social security up to 7,500 euros per year. For the platform, this is not a first: the civil liability of users was already taken care of.

A government mission in 2020

For all platforms, the challenge is great: acquire the respect of the public authorities, necessary for the sustainability of self-entrepreneurship, whose image has been tarnished by the attitude of certain platforms towards their bicycle couriers or their VTC drivers. Hervé Novelli, creator of the autoenterprise and today president of API, the Association of Freelance Platforms, is delighted. In Le Figaro , the former minister said to " fully approve " the approach of StaffMe: " it's very good, their workers will be able to carry out their activities calmly, and the platform shows that it fully takes its responsibilities ". If the fight against unemployment remains the main argument of the actors of autoentrepreneurship, the development of satisfactory working conditions seems to become a preponderant objective.

Other API members say they are already considering or offering additional coverage. Initiatives that Hervé Novelli soon wishes to “ unify and structure in a common fund ” in order to be able to show the public authorities the spirit of responsibility of the industry, which is starting to structure itself around organizations of platforms and unions of independent workers , as reported by the Slate website. " First, we want to show that we know how to communicate with platform users and meet their needs, " continues Hervé Novelli . " Second, this active dialogue is the best proof of our good will with the government and the administration ."

The executive has also launched an observation and reflection mission on the subject: " the public authorities are very interested in our approach, and I am waiting to be able to express myself within the framework of a reflection mission launched by the Prime Minister this year, "said the former minister. Depending on the results, regulatory adaptations, or even a law, could make it possible to adapt the statute of autoentrepreneur, and allow the continuation of its generalization.
