INTERVIEW - The Polish director delivers his third feature film inspired by a real fact.


He looks like a teenager, as frail and clear as his personality is strong and his cinema powerful. At 38, Jan Komasa, trained at the Lodz school under the aegis of Wajda, gives new colors to the seventh Polish art.

LE FIGARO.- What interested you in this character of a young delinquent whom chance brings to pass for a priest in an unknown village?

Jan KOMASA.- Daniel comes out of prison and searches for his own way. The years of training were blocked by his imprisonment, he did not develop. He is not an intentional impostor, but with his fake identity, he reaches the light. He has broken all of the commandments, including "You shall not kill," and the paradox is that he has deep existential experience. He's a great discussion partner because he doesn't judge. He knows the hypocrisy of people and does not throw stones. He is uneducated, but he speaks directly to the heart. Others try to do that without succeeding,
