Situation obliges, Italy has just adopted drastic measures to fight against the coronavirus. All schools and universities will be closed in the country from this Thursday until March 15.

"The decision was not easy, but we took it as a precaution," Education Minister Lucia Azzolina commented to the press. Italy has registered 3,089 cases and 107 deaths since the start of the epidemic.

According to the Corriere della Sera, the Ministry of Education and the schools will switch to distance learning so as not to fall too far behind in school curricula.

With this decision, the government intends to limit the spread of Covid-2019 in the country, the fourth most affected territory behind Iran, South Korea and China.

In France, stage 2 is currently maintained as announced by the Minister of Health Olivier Veran, at a press conference this afternoon. But according to Sibeth Ndiaye, government spokesperson, the possibility of not reaching stage 3 "seems unlikely, unfortunately", given the spread of the virus in recent days.
