The Ministers of Labor and of the Economy will work together to create a new legal status for platform workers. A mission dedicated to the subject will make proposals by the summer, said Muriel Pénicaud on the air in Europe 1. The minister was thus reacting to the decision of the Court of Cassation to reclassify the link between Uber as an employment contract and one of his former drivers.

The court “highlighted the impossibility, for the driver, to freely decide on the conditions of exercise of his service, in particular his prices, or to build up a clientele, as well as the sanctioning power of the platform . […] The breach is growing, showing, once again, that platforms are not above the law ”, welcomed the CGT.
The judgment indeed creates case law. It will allow Uber drivers, and all other platform collaborators, who work for a single company, to seize the industrial tribunal to ask
