  • The number of those affected is also increasing in Germany - more and more corona cases are becoming known.

  • Now employers should avoid crane writing for longer.

With the increasing number of corona cases in Germany, the fear of the virus also increases among the population. In doctors' surgeries and pharmacies , the situation is now coming to a head - they currently have a lot more to do because of the coronavirus . In order to relieve the burden on the medical care system, the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians (KBV) is now calling on employers to do without medical sick leave longer than before.

Coronavirus: rush in the practices

Although the health regulations associated with a corona infection are clear, many people ignore the advice. The fact is: If you are sick, you should first contact your doctor by phone. Otherwise there is a risk of further infections in the crowded waiting room . But it seems as if the embassy has not reached all of Germany. Many medical practices are currently significantly overloaded *.

Corona virus:

This is not only due to the high number of illnesses . Many workers are forced to see their doctor even with mild illnesses. Reason for this: You need a sick leave * . So far, it has been common for supervisors to request sick leave after three days at the latest. But a visit to the doctor is not always necessary, so mild symptoms usually cure themselves in a few days.

The KBV is now asking employers to extend the period up to the submission of the sick notice to up to six days . This change could relieve medical practices .

Coronavirus: Chronically ill people benefit from sick leave regulations

The KBV adheres to the proposed measure as an employer , as the deputy chairman Stephan Hofmeister said in a statement on the current status. In order to relieve outpatient medical care, other companies * should also introduce the rules for their employees. Patients with an already compromised immune system who are particularly at risk of contracting the virus would also benefit.

Covid19: Do not call the doctor if you are suspected, but call

"Nothing would be more fatal to expose both the patients and the doctors in the practices to unnecessary risks and thereby endanger the care as a whole," explains Stephan Hofmeister in the press release. The practice staff must also be protected from a possible infection and should not be exposed to unnecessary risks. For this purpose, medical practices should set up separate rooms and consultation hours for the investigation of suspected cases.

Nevertheless, if you suspect that you have the virus * or were in an affected region, you should phone your family doctor or contact the on-call doctor (tel .: 116117) before visiting the practice. According to the KBV, more than twice as many people have registered with the service in the past few days. Last Saturday there were 80,000 people, on Sunday 60,000.
