Women are more exposed to the risk of being killed by a partner or ex-partner in the Northwest and Northeast while the risk is minimal in the Center (0.17). The rate in the three-year period considered (2016-2018), always in reference to the deaths inflicted by the partners, is almost double in Bolzano (0.50) and in Friuli Venezia Giulia (0.43) compared to the value of the North-east. The homicide rate also assumes high values in Liguria (0.41) and stands above the average in Tuscany, Piedmont and Sardinia. It is decreasing compared to the past years in Umbria and Emilia Romagna. Again among women, the percentage of foreign victims is slightly higher (39.5%) than that referred to Italians (38.6%), while in 2017 the share was higher (around 40% the first and 30% the latter). Among Italians, the proportion between male and female victims is 10 to 6 (increasing on 2017 when it was 10 to 5), among foreigners from 10 to 7. Foreign women are more frequently killed by their partners or former partners compared to Italian women (respectively 60% and 53.4%) and less from other relatives (10% for foreign women and 29.1% for Italian women), this probably also due to the general distance with the other members of the network familiar. Furthermore, the age composition of foreign women victims is much younger: 90% of the victims are up to 54 years old compared to 37.4% of Italian women of this age.
