2020-03-05T19:04:45.084Z

The bills are now expected in the Senate at the end of April, where the communist elected officials promised "a long debate".

Two days after the adoption of the ordinary bill of the reform of the pensions via the recourse to article 49-3 of the Constitution, the deputies voted this Thursday its organic side, by 98 votes against 1. The oppositions of left , denouncing a " masquerade ", then LR, for lack of a solemn vote, had left the Chamber before the ballot.

After the vote, Secretary of State Laurent Pietraszewski praised a project " which rewrites the social pact we want to make with the nation ", the LREM group referring to " a fundamental text for the future universal pension system ". This bill, composed of 5 articles (versus 65 for the ordinary text) and on which 1800 amendments had been tabled, fixes a " golden rule " on the financial balance of the future system and provides for early application of the reform from 2022 for parliamentarians.

Final adjustments have been made to the pensions of members of the Constitutional Council or the governance of the system. From the start of the review, rapporteur LREM Cendra Motin had indicated that she would not comment on the formal amendments, the Secretary of State being content with a simple unfavorable opinion to speed up the debates, scheduled until Sunday.

The battle is far from over. On the street side, a new day of mobilization is announced on March 31 when a few thousand people have still demonstrated to demand the withdrawal of the reform. On the Parliament side, the bills are expected in the Senate at the end of April, where the communist elected officials promised "a long debate" . The government, already under tension between coronavirus and municipal elections, has not closed the door to a possible postponement of 15 days to await the conclusions, requested for the end of April, of the financing conference. Marc Fesneau is studying the question. The reform will then come back to the Assembly, the government expecting a final adoption before the beginning of July.
