Plastic stop at sea, Cdp agreement, Eni, Fincantieri for recycling

(ANSA) - TRIESTE, MARCH 6 - A memorandum of understanding for the development of joint projects in the circular economy, "aimed at identifying and implementing technological solutions to deal synergistically with the phenomenon of the marine litter, which compromises the marine and coastal ecosystem mainly due to floating plastic waste and microplastics ". This is what Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, Eni and Fincantieri have signed.

The aim of the agreement - explains a joint note - is to study and develop technologies for the collection of waste dispersed at sea and along the coasts and to use them to generate products for mobility and industrial applications.

As part of the protocol, Cdp and Eni have agreed on the development of joint projects for the valorisation of urban waste, with reference to non-recyclable plastic waste (Plasmix) and secondary solid fuel (CSS). The signature is part of the broader commitment of the three parties to support the energy transition to achieve the targets set by the National Integrated Energy and Climate Plan for 2030.

In particular, Cdp will contribute to promoting initiatives focused on the creation of new business models; Eni will bring industrial and technical skills for the study and development of initiatives to industrialize waste to chemical technology to enhance the material from Plasmix and the Css. Fincantieri, for the agreement relating to the marine litter, will bring its skills to make the choice of naval vessels, define its configuration and study the logistical implications to allow the collection, selection and treatment of waste at sea.
