(ANSA) - MADRID, MARCH 10 - The Spanish parliament has decided today that it will not conduct an investigation into the alleged money laundering by former King Juan Carlos. The investigation had been requested by the Podemos party, but an executive body "did not accept the request to create an investigative commission," said a source in parliament. A week ago, the Tribune de Geneve newspaper had written that in 2008 Juan Carlos would receive approximately 88 million euros from the Saudi king Abdullah through the contosvizzero of an entity listed in Panama. According to the same newspaper, in 2012, the king also donated 65 million dollars to his former lover, Corinna zu Sayn-Wittgenstein. Ilgiornale then wrote, citing sources familiar with the matter, that these transactions are at the center of an investigation launched in 2018 in Geneva for "suspected money laundering". Juan Carlos, 82, lost his immunity after giving the throne to his son, Felipe, in June 2014, after a 39-year reign.
