Arkady Duchin: "Anyone who deals with rap is a hero" Israel today

2020-03-12T16:28:32.032Z

The musician joined rapper Izzy, and together they released a song about a guy who was killed in an accident • So why is Izzy and how did the connection happen?

The veteran musician and young rapper put out a common song, the lyrics of which were written by Omar Ohnon, who was killed in a car accident in 2005 • The song is called "The Song of Omar" and the two hope he will convey a message to be careful on the roads

Arkady Duchin and rapper Izzy have teamed up to produce a joint song called "Omer's Song." The song was written by Omar Ohnon, who was killed in a motorcycle accident in 2005.

Omar, who was a bartender, gym instructor and student at Wingate, wrote an exciting love poem on torn notebook pages. His family found the song and kept it. Now, in collaboration with the Green Light Association for the War on Road Accidents, the song is given life as a duet by Izzy (32) and Arkady Duchin (57). The song was also filmed with an exciting clip starring Shalom Michalashvili and Daniel Gal.

"This song has been with me for 12 years," says Duchin. "Liron, Omar's cousin, brought it to me. After I composed the song, it didn't feel cooked enough. He went through a lot of incarnations and I thought I really wanted to do this song with Izzy. As soon as Izzy arrived - it got an upgrade."

Why Izzy?

"I'm a fan of Izzy (laughs). I actually grew up with him through my daughter. She knew his songs for me a few years ago, and we listen to them and follow his development. He's a wonderful musician."

Izzy replies in his own paragon: "It was a huge excitement to get a call from Arady. He is the reason why I begged to be given a guitar. And he was open to the changes and ideas I brought. "

Have any thoughts of further collaboration between you?

Izzy: "Now it's much easier. That's how the most genuine and authentic collaborations are born."

Dochin: "We focus first on this collaboration, which is to appeal to young people who will keep their lives safe when it comes to road accidents. They are talking about viruses, about lives that get us down in all sorts of ways, so be careful about things that depend on us."

Arkady, you've made a change in your music lately, becoming a rapper.

"I went through an amazing school. It's not just being a rapper in Israel, it's an everyday war, so I don't know if I'm really aiming for it as a career. Izzy tackles it a lot more courageously than I do. I've learned a lot from my music. About hip-hop - enriching himself in all genres, it's a gift. I don't know if I'll be a rapper in the future, but it's so much fun for me to get to know this special style. Israel is not a rap empire and everyone involved here is kind of a hero. "

Izzy: "What keeps an artist hungry is curiosity and a desire to explore more and more styles. It happens to me too. Everyone falls in love with something that doesn't come from their home turf. I've heard Arcady's songs in the hip-hop genre - and it has amazing songs. Something very competitive in this genre. Everyone wants to stay relevant all the time. I personally die for it. "
