"The coronavirus epidemic shows how urgent it is to act for web access, even for women. When offices and schools are closed, it allows us to work, continue to educate our children, read vital information for our health" : this is the message of Tim Berners Lee, dad of the web, 31 years after the birth of his creature. On March 12, 1989, in fact, the researcher presented an essay at CERN in Geneva: it was the theoretical basis of the network that started the invention that revolutionized our lives.
Sir Tim takes the opportunity of this anniversary to make an appeal for women who do not have access to the web. "The world - he wrote in a letter - has made important progress on gender equality but the web is still not accessible to women, discriminates against it and governments do little".
