The Franco-American director and actress Tonie Marshall died at the age of 68, her agent announced on Thursday. She is the only woman to have received the César for Best Director for "Venus Beauty (Institute)" in 2000, awarded the same year with the award for best film.
Tonie Marshall died "this morning from a long illness," said Elisabeth Tanner.
Director and screenwriter of a dozen films, she has also been seen in feature films by Jean-Claude Brialy, Jean-Michel Ribes or Jean-Claude Biette.
