At first glance, the video game industry is supposed to be one of the few sectors not to suffer from the Covid-19. Encouraged to stay at home, the populations will have to take care. In Italy, the operator Telecom Italia noted a jump of 70% in the use of bandwidth since the closure of schools, largely due to connections on the online game Fortnite . In China, the number of daily players on the most famous mobile games has jumped 48% since the start of the epidemic. And there is no need to go to the store to buy a video game: all titles are available in digital format.
But video games are not considered a safe haven by the markets. The actions of major players in the sector are caused by general panic. In one month, the French Ubisoft lost 25% of its value, with a sharp fall this week. The Americans Activision and EA each lost 14%. Japan is not left behind with 22% decline for Square-Enix
