(ANSA) - GENOA, MAR 13 - Costa Cruises announces that it will voluntarily suspend the operations of its ships until April 3.
The decision was made since the spread of Covid-19, recently declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization, requires extraordinary measures and the resolute contribution of all stakeholders to stop the emergency. Costa Cruises had already stopped cruises in the Mediterranean until April 3, while Costa operations in China were suspended on January 25.
"We believe it is our responsibility to be ready to make difficult choices when the times require it," said Neil Palomba, CEO of Costa Cruises. In recent months CostaCrociere has strengthened the precautions on its fleet and has followed the WHO guidelines. However, the logistics of travel around the world is today more demanding and with more restrictions adopted by different countries. Corsican cruises will terminate their itinerary to allow guests to return home.
