Coronavirus: "Confined far from home, can I reach my main residence?"

2020-03-19T16:25:53.222Z

Internet user wants to know if he can return home in complete confinement, after having looked after his grandchildren during the children's holidays

Every day, Le Parisien is mobilized to answer your questions. Today, we are looking at the situation of Yves, who asks us this: "My children are coming back from vacation in Guadeloupe, we are currently at home in Landerneau for the care of the grandchildren: will I be able to reach my home after their arrival? In other words, can we change the place of confinement during general confinement?

Special situations

What must be kept in mind is that "the place of confinement must be chosen and determined" once and for all, specifies the Ministry of the Interior, requested by the Parisian. Our reader, like any French citizen, is therefore theoretically supposed to go to the chosen place of containment "before the entry into force of confinement", it is insisted.

However, certain specific situations may make it necessary "to join one's main residence (end of a rental, protection of vulnerable people or animals, etc.)". In these specific cases, "the return to his residence is possible," says Place Beauvau.

Concretely, for those who, voluntarily confined to a second home, ultimately want to return home, it's no. But in the case of Yves, who was looking after his grandchildren in the absence of their parents - vulnerable people - when the confinement was put in place, the return to their main residence therefore seems justified.

Mandatory certification

His situation is similar to that of another Grenoble reader, who came to Paris ten days ago to take care of his hospitalized mother. "With confinement I am no longer of any use, since I can no longer visit him," he notes. Specifying that he has animals at home that must be taken care of, he asks us if he can go "legally home". Again, a priori, yes.

However, it is therefore imperative to "bring your duly completed certificate and your identity document". And tick the reason: "displacement for compelling family reasons, for assistance to vulnerable people or for childcare". On pain of being fined 4th class, for an amount of 135 euros, which can be increased up to 175 euros.
