ROME - Venetian bubbles, Apulian taralli, Emilian cured meats, Piedmontese milk, South Tyrolean yogurt, Sicilian wines, mozzarella from Campania and Molise pasta: 10.8% of the 76,290 food products sold in Italian hypermarkets and supermarkets carry the indication of the region on the label origin. A business of over 2.34 billion euros in sales, an increase of 2.6% mainly thanks to the increase in the offer, which contributes 8% to the total turnover of the analyzed food world. In the first place, the Observatory says, there is Trentino-Alto Adige both in terms of number of products and turnover, respectively 1.3% and 1.2% of the food world analyzed, with a sales trend positive by 2.4%. Followed by equal merit for sales value with 0.9% Piedmont (+ 3.1%) and Emilia-Romagna (+ 1.3%). To record, however, the best sales performance is Molise with + 28.4% in one year of the products with regional label, starting from pasta. Excellent results also for Puglia (+ 13.1%), thanks above all to mozzarella, pasta and pickles and Calabria (+ 8.7%), with bitters, frozen vegetables and tuna. Sales also increased for the other regions, with the exception of Sardinia, Umbria, Lazio and Abruzzo, which instead recorded slight decreases.
