Can taking ibuprofen harm people infected with SARS-CoV-2? There is still no reliable answer to this. For the time being, the WHO gives the all-clear.
Geneva (dpa) - The World Health Organization (WHO) has withdrawn its warning against taking the painkiller ibuprofen if it is suspected of being infected with the new coronavirus. The Sars-CoV-2 virus can trigger the lung disease Covid-19.
The WHO experts had consulted studies and doctors and concluded that there were no indications of negative ibuprofen consequences in Covid-19 patients beyond the known side effects in certain population groups.
"Based on the information available today, the WHO does not advise against taking ibuprofen," said the WHO. She had done that on Tuesday and recommended paracetamol instead of ibuprofen.
