Operational in the afternoon, with the entry of the first patients, the field hospital set up in front of that of Cremona and donated by the American NGO Samaritan's Pursue to face the Coronavirus emergency in one of the most affected areas in Italy .
In the square in front of the health center, the ceremony of "dedication" of the structure "to people who suffer" was held, said Eric Timmens, team leader of the NGO who, together with the councilor for Welfare of Lombardy Giulio Gallera, then opened, in a symbolic way, the tent that houses 8 intensive care beds and in addition to the 60 for the less serious patients who will be active when the field hospital is fully operational.
In fact, the structure opens with about half of the seats until it reaches full operation. "For us it is a ray of sunshine - said Gallera - after a month in which a lot has changed in Lombardy. Exactly a month ago we had the news of the first Coronavirus case". The commissioner explained that "it was good news when Minister Speranza told us that an American organization came here to help us, it means that we are not alone". "Opening eight intensive care beds - he continued - means offering enormous life expectancy to people who remain in the emergency room to wait for hours."
