Coronavirus: four PV against a family after a funeral, in Calvados

2020-03-22T18:09:20.759Z

The gendarmes considered that the journey by car contravened the rules of confinement.

The misunderstanding added to the grief for a Norman family. Thursday evening when they returned home after attending a funeral in Falaise (Calvados), four people from the same family were arrested by the gendarmerie. After verifications of identities and certificates of derogatory displacement, officials have drawn up reports for "non-compliance with the rules of confinement", reports Sunday the newspaper Ouest-France.

The family had however taken all the precautions by attending the brewing only one person at a time or by limiting to fifteen the assistance to the ceremony during which the rules of distance had been respected. "When we hit the road, we even had my grandmother's death certificate in addition to the derogatory travel certificate," testifies Benjamin Loison. The constable told us that this was not a valid reason. He didn't want to hear anything ... "According to the family who contacted the Falaise town hall and the Calvados prefecture, they were told" that there was no need to verbalize for that and that indeed it was an authorized case. The four verbalized persons are now waiting to know if they will receive the PV at home.

The organization of funerals is now strictly regulated due to the confinement instructions. The government decree specifies in particular that the ceremonies must not gather more than twenty people and that the rites must be modified to respect the rules of distance between each participant.
