(ANSA) - TEHERAN, MARCH 22 - Dozens of Iranian artists have signed an appeal to their colleagues around the world asking them to stop the sanctions against Iran when the country faces the coronavirus pandemic.
"Right now all of us, regardless of geographic and political positions, are facing a deadly community", underline the authors of the initiative, among which are the actress and director Rakhshan Banietemad, the sculptor Parviz Tanavoli, the choreographer Farzaneh Kaboli, singers Hossein Alizadeh and Homayun Shajarian. The appeal denounces "the conditions in which infected citizens are found, the disastrous shortcomings of the Iranian demedical community and the health system collapsing from the emergency and the sanctions".
In Italy, the National Association of Film Authors (ANAC) has joined the appeal, stating that "sanctions cannot and must not exist in a time of absolute need such as that of the pandemic.
