Coronavirus: "Can we go for a drive if we don't get out of our vehicle?"

2020-03-26T09:42:23.050Z

For the Ministry of the Interior, a drive behind the wheel does not fall within the permitted walks provided for in the travel certificate

Every day, Le Parisien takes action to answer your questions about the coronavirus. Today we are looking at that of Rodolphe, who wonders if it is permissible to take a drive if you do not leave your vehicle. In other words, is there a risk of being fined in the event of a check if you make a journey between your garage and… your garage.

The answer is no. During this period of confinement, it is forbidden to leave your home except for the few reasons listed on the famous certificate of derogatory displacement, which you must bring with you to justify the need for your exit. A derogation is thus possible for "short trips" linked to "the individual physical activity of people", to "walking with the only people gathered in the same home" or to "the needs of pets".

It is in this context that the four-wheeled trips could possibly have entered for fun. Are these outings allowed, however? Absolutely not. "It is not possible to take your car for a ride," said one to the Ministry of the Interior. “The only walks allowed are those for airing, on foot, for a maximum of one hour and within the limit of a radius of one kilometer around his home. "

Confinement: the rules to follow to move

Car rides are not the only ones to be banned, as the Ministry of Sports recently reminded on its Twitter account. The bicycle should therefore only be used for "going to work" or "shopping if the business is not accessible on foot".

"Recreational cycling, as we have already said here, is prohibited during this period," said the ministry. On two wheels as on four, the offender faces a fine of 135 euros in the event of a check.
