To test its employees, in a phase in which swabs continue to be scarce, Amazon is building its own laboratory in the US, and hopes to be able to test the first workers "soon".

The company's objective, grappling with the presence of positive employees in about sixty factories and also in Italy, is to be able to keep the activities in the warehouses open in safety, avoiding infection, to continue delivering goods to customers.

The giant of Jeff Bezos explains that he has set up a working group for the laboratory with various internal professional figures. "We are not sure how far we will arrive in good time, but we believe it is worth trying and we are ready to share everything we will learn."

"To date, we have made more than 150 changes to factories around the world to ensure employee health and safety," Amazon highlights in a statement. "A next step could be testing all employees, including asymptomatics," but for now, "tests are heavily rationed."

Testing all people regularly, observes the company, would allow you to quarantine and treat those who are positive, while others "could re-enter the economy safely".
