His first words were for them. "These days, these weeks, will remain the honor of our caregivers in the hospital and in the city," he said in the introduction. On the front line since the start of the crisis, many of them have followed this fourth speech carefully. Three of them, two emergency doctors and a doctor, told us their feelings after the announcements by the President of the Republic.
Orianne Plumet watched the speech just before leaving for her care at the La Pitié-Salpêtrière hospital (Paris XIII). This nurse and member of the Inter Urgences collective recognizes a change in tone. “What struck me was that he seemed lucid. There is a form of acknowledgment of errors and of our difficulties that we have on the ground. It must not be a way to clear customs, ”she warns. Critics arrive quickly. "He certainly talked about the masks but nothing about the overcoats or the drugs, which are really in tension in the services," regrets the nurse.
But one sentence really caught his attention, spoken at the start of the speech. "French hospitals have managed to treat those who presented there," said the President. "There are elderly patients who normally would have been admitted to intensive care and who have not been admitted, it must be said," insists the young woman.

“All the patients were able to be treated. But did they receive care in the same way? I don't know, ”wonders Céline Laville, nurse at the Poitiers University Hospital (Vienne), and president of the National Nursing Coordination. She is satisfied with part of the speech. “I'm glad he talked about flaws. Because even if he does not control everything, what remained in my throat is that he was not telling the truth. There it is! We hope that he opened his eyes to what we have been saying for two, three, four years, that our health system is not doing well, ”she recalls.
Céline Laville also believes she has seen reason for hope for the future. "The president spoke of the most precarious, I hope he was talking about healthcare workers whether in the liberal or in the hospital, I really hope he was talking about us and that a salary increase is expected after the crisis. "

Claude Bronner, president of the Federation of Doctors of France Grand Est, settled in Strasbourg, understands the extension of the confinement, but not its conditions. “To continue to force families to follow such restrictive rules is delusional. The consequences will be serious. Failure to take risks is to keep distance, ”he gets angry, also disappointed regarding the presidential statement on tests, reserved for symptomatic patients.
