The organizers of the Laver Cup have announced that the tournament will not take place this year, to return to Boston in 2021 (where it was scheduled for this year) from 24 to 26 September. A decision that became necessary for the overlaps that had been created in the calendar, with other manifestations of primary importance, due to the determined program changes of the coronavirus emergency. One above all, the Roland Garros which, in a unilateral way, had shifted its dates precisely in conjunction with the weekend of the Ryder Cup-style golf competition, strongly desired by Roger Federer.
The Swiss, who is among the organizers, has made it known that despite the postponement, he will also be in the game in 2021, when he has already crossed the 40-year mark: "It is a pity to have had to postpone the Laver Cup for a year - the champion's words - but it was the right thing to do given the situation. Despite the bad news, I'm happy that TD Garden will be the home of the Laver Cup in 2021 and can't wait to play it for the first time next year".
