Cabaret artist Bruno Jonas on his Corona period - "Frustration? Politicians keep me happy ”

Bruno Jonas (67) just played his new program "Meine Rede" twice - and then the virus rushed in. But the Passau native is not idle.

Bruno Jonas (67) just played his new program "Meine Rede" twice - and then the virus rushed in. But the Passau native is not idle.

Munich - Bruno Jones has just translated "Bavarian" for his publishing house "Der Grüffelo", then revises his book Instructions for Use for Bavaria from 2002 - and finally he sits over a script for a satirical film. He also has to call his neighbor on the floor from time to time, his colleague Andreas Rebers, with whom he has been friends for many years. Why, he says immediately.

Mr. Jonas, what is the mood like in the apartment building in Haidhausen?

Bruno Jonas: We have a good neighborhood. At Easter we have a big breakfast together in the courtyard, there are a few trees. That failed this year. But Andreas (Rebers) still plays on his grand piano. He plays well and I like to listen. However, I had to call him and "complain".

Did the Rebers play so wrong?

No, but he just stops playing, for example, halfway through the first prelude from Bach's Well-Tempered Clavier I. That will not do. He says he's just cooking and has to go back to the stove.

Deceleration is the order of the day. Do you think that Germany will suffer psychological damage from the new calm?

For some it was already obvious, otherwise we have to wait and see. The experiment is still going on.

For how much longer?

Mei, nobody knows that. I just read a sentence from the Leopoldina. Loud scientists, the scholars' regular table from the Academy of Sciences in Halle. They say smoothly that (Jonas takes a deep breath) the "measures for the gradual return to normal social status" are taken, which "but take into account the current state of the pandemic in the expected course". Yes, lick my ass!

"The Laschet reminds me of my elementary school years"

Uh.

No, that's not vulgar language, but the Lower Bavarian superlative of amazement. And this Leopoldina is the advisory board of Angela Merkel ... However, the largest is Armin Laschet. It reminds me of my elementary school years.

Why?

To the students who are constantly raising their hands, flick and "I! I! I call. When called up, little Armin says: "Wait, what was the question again? My advisors say in any case ... “On Easter Sunday of all days, he said he had to comment on Corona. If the gentleman had known that Armin spoke in the evening, he would have postponed his lockup to Monday. "The damage," says Laschet, that the current lockdown is "extremely large" and the economic damage is "enormous". Such insights qualify him for higher tasks ... What is clear to me: We used to have the open society, now the closed society. We will probably focus more on the national after the crisis.

Hopefully not…

I didn't mean it politically, but economically, and maybe that's not a bad thing. We will reduce global dependencies and try to produce more with us again. Not just medication, but from automotive suppliers to politicians (grins).

What is worse for you: that you are currently not making any money or that you cannot play in front of an audience?

The fact that I can not appear sometimes plunges me into depression. But I can enjoy politicians like Armin Laschet and her sayings. And the Söder does it really well. Without irony now. Have you read that he gets 94 percent approval in Bavaria for his corona management? Then I ask myself: What are the remaining six percent doing? Are these the Laschet partisans in Bavaria? I wonder anyway why there should be uniform solutions for Germany. Why do we need a consensus in school policy as Laschet wants it? Every federal state does what it wants in school policy. Diversity is strength.

"When the culture becomes accessible again, we are not over the mountain yet"

How badly does the crisis affect you personally?

I'm more or less a pensioner, but a young colleague with a family and two children - it really hits him hard now. In private it's worse: I can't see my children and grandchildren. The little one is just starting to run. Now the daughter and son-in-law are sending us small WhatsApp films as a replacement. My wife and I have to wait and stay and hope that there will be an antibody test soon. But when the culture becomes accessible again, we are far from over the mountain.

Why not?

Because the older ones are particularly afraid. Do you think they'll go out right away? The constant communication of death numbers in the media is the only issue. This shutdown, combined with the fear of illness and death, will continue to haunt us for a long time. Can you remember that there was such a global movement for climate protection? Today we are giving more of our mood swings. The Habeck was already the Federal Chancellor a few weeks ago. Today he raises his finger and asks for a question.

"I recently heard Heiko Maas's speech twice"

Despite the crisis, you haven't lost your sense of humor ...

I am grateful to the politicians. Because the crisis makes the comedians even funnier and the pathetic even more pathetic. An example for the comedian: Heiko Maas. When he's in front of the camera, I always have the feeling that he left his communion candle somewhere. And for the pathetic: Federal President Steinmeier. I listened to his speech the other day. Because afterwards I felt so good.

Why?

Because he made us all heroes if we didn't leave the house. We are a people of heroes who stayed at home.

Despite isolation, Munich is growing closer together. In the Corona crisis, restaurants and shops offer a delivery service. With our interactive map you have an overview.

Andreas Gabalier's concert of superlatives in Munich is postponed. Management is responding to government bans. There is still a ray of hope for fans.
