(ANSA) - MONTECATINI TERME (PISTOIA), APRIL 20 - The notoristoratore Sirio Macconi died last night in Montecatini (Pistoia), his city of origin. Among his restaurants open in New York, the most famous was 'Le Cirque', opened in 1974: almost all the presidents of the United States - from Nixon to Carter, from Reagan to the Clinton family - and many characters of politics and entertainment have passed. Maccioni, who had just turned 88 (he was born on April 5, 1932) had left Montecatini as a young man to seek his fortune abroad, first in Paris, following the myth of Yves Montand, who was originally from nearby Monsummano Terme, then in Hamburg and, in the 1950s, in the United States.
