Coronavirus: test to detect it in the workplace

An innovative test verifies the presence of the COVID-19 virus in the workplace. To realize it is Sersys Ambiente, a company from Rivoli (Turin) specialized in offering environmental services (waste management, analysis, environmental design, remediation, industrial technical cleaning).

Virus research is performed thanks to an analysis called RT-PCR (Reverse Transcriptase-Polymerase Chain Reaction: reverse polymerase chain reaction). A certain and rapid verification, already available today, which allows results to be obtained in just 48 hours from the pad, performed directly by Sersys staff to ensure maximum safety.

The test can be performed in companies, supermarkets, production locations, on work surfaces, in air ducts and on high-frequency contact surfaces (e.g. door handles, push-button panels, PC keyboards, coffee machines , POS terminals, shopping trolleys, cell phones), thus allowing to determine the microbiological safety of the environments.

COVID-19 is, in fact, a respiratory virus that spreads mainly through contact with the droplets of the breath of infected people through, for example, saliva, cough, sneezing, direct personal contacts, contacts of contaminated hands with mouth, nose or eyes.

Expert studies have shown that COVID-19 can survive up to 3 days on plastic and steel, up to 24 hours on cardboard and about 4 hours on copper. The time span varies according to the characteristics of the type of surface: the less porous ones like plastic and steel are the "worst", as they absorb droplets less easily, preserving the active virus.
