WHO launches initiative to speed up vaccine

A "historic collaboration" to accelerate the development, production and fair distribution of the vaccine and coronavirus therapies was launched today by the UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, WHO director, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, and the French president Emmanuel Macron. "I am particularly grateful to President Emmanuel Macron, to the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and to Bill and Melinda Gates for their leadership and support," said the WHO Director-General also thanking the other world leaders who gave their support for the initiative. "Since January, WHO has been working with thousands of researchers around the world to accelerate the development of a vaccine. United we will win the coronavirus," he said.
