A strong expectation generated at the Constitución train station, in the City of Buenos Aires, the beginning of rapid tests to detect coronavirus antibodies. A long line of more than 200 people had formed in the hall of the building to be tested.

"No matter how long it takes, it is for my safety and the safety of others," a man told the TN channel while waiting his turn.

As explained by the Ministry of Health, the tests are used to carry out epidemiological studies, but they are not used to diagnose whether or not someone has coronavirus. By detecting antibodies, they indicate whether one had contact with the virus or not.

The tests, aimed at volunteers over the age of 18, began this Friday at the Constitución station, and over the days it will be implemented in Once, Retiro and other jurisdictions in the country. Evaluations will be repeated at the same sentinel sites every 14-21 days, depending on the isolation release phases.

"I use the train to come to work and I prefer to be safe and have information about my state of health," said a young man who explained that he lives with his partner and his three-year-old daughter and that he prefers to arrive home calmly by submitting to the test. .

"I work here in the administrative sector and I may have been in contact with the virus, I travel on public transport and although there is not so much attendance, I was exposed," a woman told C5N .

Another passenger who arrived by train at the Constitución terminal warned in her job that she would be late because she wanted to undergo the test: “It is important to know whether or not you were in contact with the virus. There are nine people in my house and three of us go out to work. I live with my parents who are big and it would give me peace of mind to know if I had coronavirus ”.

If a test is positive, the person analyzed will not be subjected to a PCR test, used to diagnose the disease, nor preventively isolated. Neither his relatives nor the people with whom he has been in contact.

From the Ministry of Health they explained that the investigation does not serve to detect individual cases of coronavirus, but to know the general situation and make decisions accordingly.
