(ANSA) - BEIJING, MAY 3 - Multiple exchange of firing shots this morning between the two Koreas: the Northern military fired more bullets towards a South Sudan guard post along the demilitarized line (DMZ) that separates the two countries, receiving later as a warning a similar response.
This was reported by the Joint Joint Chief of Staff of Seoul, according to which the incident occurred around 7:41 local (00:41 in Italy) on the central border of the city of Cheorwon, excluding damage to people or things. After the accident, imilitarians from Seoul and Pyongyang "took steps through the inter-Korean communication lines" to rebuild and motivate the incident, as well as "to prevent any other incident". However, the South Korean State Command maintained "the necessary posture" to respond to any scenario.
The exchange does not appear to have been initiated from the North "intentionally", reports South Korean agency Yonhap, citing an anonymous military official from Seoul.
