The Kabyles lose their greatest voice with Idir. The world famous Algerian singer died on Saturday in Paris, at the age of 70. The legendary interpreter of the Berber song "A vava inouva" has defended his Kabyle cultural identity all his life as much as the mixture of cultures.
Living in Paris since 1975, he returned to sing in Algiers in January 2018 on the occasion of the Berber New Year, 38 years after his departure from the country.
