Animals lying on the ground, unconscious inhabitants in the streets ... An industrial accident caused panic scenes in the streets of Vishakhapatnam in southeast India on Thursday. A gas leak at a chemical plant manufacturing polystyrene left nearly 12 people dead. The tragedy took place when the factory restarted during the confinement decreed in the country.
According to local authorities, nearly 400 people are still hospitalized, but none are in serious condition. People living within a two-kilometer radius were evacuated to contain the gas leak and cool the tanks.
