The health emergency, which has changed the habits of many families in our country, has made digital a fundamental tool for everyone not to stop and not to be left behind. In a few months, we have witnessed a revolution that has also changed the experience of teachers and students in a short time, who have had to rethink the approach to teaching and learning and apply their skills in a completely new scenario. There are about 6.7 million (about 80%) pupils currently attending distance lessons (Source: Ministry of Education). It is in this context that EDU DAY 2020 fits in, the Microsoft event dedicated to the world of school and university which this year, in a special completely digital edition, sees the alternation of interventions by important representatives of the institutions from the world of education, schools, universities, associations and companies to talk about the challenges faced in this period and analyze growth opportunities. Among these also the Minister of Education Lucia Azzolina and the Minister of University and Research Gaetano Manfredi.

The Memorandum of Understanding with MIUR, the over ten-year protocol between CRUI and Microsoft have made it possible to contribute to the innovation of the school and university system, not least the fact that since the onset of the emergency, COVID 19 has worked closely together to ensure continuity of teaching through Microsoft's cloud platforms.

The Microsoft investment with the opening of the Italian data center announced last Friday will allow further innovation in university services, teaching and research as well as developing the digital skills of the students necessary to face the challenges of the world of the future.

The event marks the first initiative of Microsoft following the launch of the investment plan for the country "Ambition Italy Digital Restart" which sees the world of education and digital skills as a first important pillar of relaunching and growing the country.

The appointment is also an opportunity to present the first results of "Emotion Revolution: Emotions and Distance Learning during the Covid-19 emergency", a qualitative research by Microsoft Italy, carried out in collaboration with PerLAB and Wattajob, which takes a first photograph of the emotional effects of the Coronavirus emergency in the world of school, among teachers and students and which aims to monitor its evolution until the end of the school year.

The partners Acer, HP, Intel, Lenovo and Vodafone also participated in the day and contributed to the story by sharing experiences, success stories and good digital school practices.
