Findings of paternity are intended to clarify the origin of a child. If this cannot be done through the father, such a determination can also be made through the grandparents.

Hanover (dpa / tmn) - If a potential father is also not forced to take a test to determine paternity, his parents can also be used. The Hanover District Court has pointed this out.

In the specific proceedings, a 31-year-old man had been asked several times to acknowledge or have paternity against a girl. He stayed away from the saliva collection dates without excuse, did not respond to a court order, and was not at home when the police tried to pick him up. He justified this with being a showman all over Germany.

The court then decided to involve the man's parents. According to the law, grandparents are obliged to participate in a voting procedure. If coercive measures are unsuccessful due to a stay abroad, for example, the assessment of third parties, here the grandparents, can also be considered in individual cases.

Then, however, it must first be clarified via the parentage certificate whether the supposed father is also the biological child of the grandparents. In the process mentioned, the man was finally able to take a sample. The grandparents did not have to be tested.
