Many schools across France are closing their doors due to suspected coronaviruses. In the red zone or in the ve zone

The resumption of lessons for schoolchildren is not yet fluid. Since Monday, May 11, primary and kindergarten schools can gradually reopen their doors across the country, with strict conditions (15 students per class, social distancing, etc.). But several schools have been faced with forced closings in recent days, due to suspected cases of Covid-19 among teachers and supervisory staff.

In Mayenne, two private schools closed. Two establishments in Bonchamp-lès-Laval and Saint-Germain-le-Fouilloux can no longer accommodate students since this Friday, says France Bleu Mayenne. Two teachers and a school life assistant show symptoms that could reveal cases of Covid-19. Pending tests, schools have closed. If these are positive, the premises must be disinfected and the persons who have been in contact must be identified.

Finistère in the same case. In Douarnenez or Brest, the start of the school year was interrupted or postponed for the same reasons. Several people, including municipal officials or a teacher, have presented symptoms and must be tested, reports Ouest-France. In the commune of Relecq-Kerhuon, the test carried out on a municipal agent came back negative and the return, postponed at the beginning of the week, took place this Thursday.

Suspected case of a child in Cantal. In the Auvergne department, several adults are also suspected due to various symptoms, explains La Montagne. But, in Ternes, a child, admitted to school during confinement, presents symptoms. “We were in the final preparations for the return scheduled for the next day, when a mother called us to warn that her child was going to be tested. This test was negative, but we prefer to be careful. If it is not reliable, there would be a danger… ”explains the mayor of the city to the local media. The school concerned will therefore not reopen before May 25.

The second wave of openings postponed… In Indre-et-Loire, Haute-Garonne or in Hérault, Midi Libre informs that several school openings are delayed due to cases of suspected adults. In a school in Montpellier, teachers have also asserted their right of withdrawal, one of their colleagues being suspected of having contracted the Covid-19.

The college students expected. According to the Ministry of Education, some 1.5 million schoolchildren will have found school benches on Friday. Next week, “at least 150,000 middle school students in grades 6 and 5” will follow suit in “green” areas, according to Minister Jean-Michel Blanquer, or around 10% of the workforce in these age groups. In the “red” zones, where the virus is still actively circulating, the Minister “cannot say more for the moment”. An assessment will be made at the end of May.
