(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 17 - A powerful story, made of contrasts - between war and pestilence, freedom and slavery, wealth and poverty, loyalty and revenge, betrayal and love - in a world marked by religious intolerance, material ambition and social isolation. A mix of dramatic events that consume in the shadow of the Inquisition, in the Barcelona of the 14th century. The series based on the homonymous bestseller by Ildefonso Falcones 'The Cathedral of the Sea' starts on Tuesday 19 May, with four appointments in the early evening on Canale 5.
The volume is divided into four parts (Servants of the glebe, Servidel of the nobility, Servants of passion, Servants of destiny) and equally interesting are the episodes of the television transposition floods on the network directed by Giancarlo Scheri, produced byAtresmedia and Netflix, with Diagonal TV, and broadcast in 2018 daAntena 3.
It is a production-monstre, which made use of a rich technical cast, consisting of 2,500 extras, 2,000 costumes and 220 animals. 80% of the scenes of the drama were filmed externally and the Basilica of Santa María del Mar was specially built for the sequences that represent its construction. Set also in Extremadura, Castilla La Mancha, Castilla y León, Madrid, Aragon and Catalonia, as well as the capital of Modernism.
In the artistic cast, the actors Aitor Luna (ArnauEstanyol, the protagonist), Daniel Grao (Bernat Estanyol) and Michelle Jenner (Mar Estanyol) stand out.
