(ANSA) - VATICAN CITY, MAY 18 - "We can hear here today: 100 years ago the Lord visited his people. He sent a man, he prepared him to be a bishop and to lead the Church". It expresses a concept of high spiritual value Pope Francis in remembering John Paul II 100 years after his birth, with a mass on the tomb of the holy Pope in the Basilic of Saint Peter, which also marks the Vatican, with the return of about thirty faithful, chosen from among the poor assisted by the Alms, well spaced between the benches (very few inmascherina), the beginning of 'phase 2' of the pandemic from Covid-19.
"Recalling this, recalling St. John Paul II - Bergoglio adds in his homily referring to the readings -: the Lord loves his people, the Lord has visited his populace, he has sent a pastor". In the liturgy concelebrated with cardinal Angelo Comastri, Francis recalled "the traces of the good shepherd that we can find in St. John Paul II".
