The Ministry of Health of the Nation confirmed this Sunday two new deaths from coronavirus in Argentina, bringing the number of fatalities to 530 since the start of the pandemic.
As reported by Alejandro Costa, Undersecretary of Health Strategies, with these figures the total case fatality rate fell to 3.3%, while the general mortality rate is 11.6 cases per million inhabitants. Meanwhile, the average age of the deceased is 75 years.
The official also explained that there are 16,214 infected , of which 6% had a history of a trip abroad, 43% had close contact with a sick person and 35.3% of cases are by community transmission.
According to the latest report, 256 people are admitted to intensive care (152 in the Capital and 86 in the province of Buenos Aires).
Meanwhile, 5,336 people were discharged, which represents 33% of the total infected.
Regarding the tests, the official indicated that 160,324 tests have already been carried out since the onset of the disease, of which 4,663 were carried out in the last 24 hours. "This implies about 3,527 tests per million inhabitants and a positivity rate of 12.2%," he said.
