(ANSA) - ROME, JUNE 7 - During the 'Black LivesMatter' protests in London, the WinstonChurchill memorial in Westminster was smeared. The Evening Standard reports it. In the afternoon, while thousands of people returned to the streets of London to test racism and in memory of George Floyd, victim of the brutality of an American policeman, some demonstrators scribbled "he was an racist" on the statue of Churchill, British Prime Minister during the second war world. Nothing was worth the effort of those who tried to protect the statue, however, had already been defaced with green graffiti during the imposing demonstration against racism, held on the 76th anniversary of D-Day.
Social media also featured a post titled "A Taste of the True Churchill" with a list of quotes attached to the memorial.
