(ANSAmed) - BELGRADE, JULY 10 - Demonstrations and protests are always allowed in Serbia, but organizing them in the presence of an epidemic is the demonstration of incredible irresponsibility. This was said by President Aleksandar Vucic with reference to the government demonstrations of the last three days in Belgrade and in other cities of the country.
Tuesdays and Wednesdays the demonstrations, which began quietly, resulted in violent clashes with the police, while the rallies were peaceful last night and no incidents were recorded.
It is not normal, said Vucic, for thousands of people to participate with the real danger of contagion with each other. From today, however, in Belgrade, the country's main hotbed, new restrictions are in force which prohibit rallies with more than ten people indoors and outdoors.
Protests and demonstrations have never been a problem for him - said Vucic, according to whom from annia Belgrade there have been rallies and demonstrations of protest almost every day. Serbia is a free and democratic country and everything can be done. "But it is absolutely irresponsible for the health of the people to make appeals to demonstrate in this situation of epidemic." And the police, he added, never intervene unless there are acts of violence and free attacks on parliament.
Last night everything went peacefully and the police didn't see each other - observed the president who invited the citizens to stay home. Vucic then reiterated that the protests have nothing to do with the health situation and the coronavirus, but are organized by interested people to open power with violence and street clashes. "Power is won through elections. You can protest as much as you want, but do it when the epidemic is over." (HANDLE).
