Coronavirus: over 560,000 deaths worldwide

There have been over 560,000 deaths recorded so far worldwide due to the coronavirus, while the overall balance of cases reaches today the threshold of 12.5 million. This is what emerges from the data published by Johns Hopkins University. The American university's tally indicates that the total death toll is 560,226 this morning, compared with 12,499,154 infections. 6,879,813 people have healed so far.

The US has recorded 63,643 more new coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours , according to data from Johns Hopkins University. In the previous day there had been over 65,500. In total, there are 3,181,846 infections, over 134 thousand victims.

Brazil on Friday reported further 1,214 deaths and 45,048 infections in the last 24 hours : the National Council of Health Secretaries (Conass) and the Ministry of Health reported in the evening. The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in the country has therefore risen to 1,800,827, while the total number of victims since the start of the pandemic has reached 70,398.

The Australian state of Victoria yesterday recorded 216 new cases of coronavirus, 25% less than the 288 on Thursday: state premier Daniel Andrews made it known today, underlining that - despite the decline - in the coming days "we will see more and more additional cases. Pakistan has recorded 2,752 new coronavirus cases and an additional 65 deaths related to the disease in the past 24 hours : the Ministry of Health has announced today. The new data bring the overall balance of the infections to 246,351 and that of the dead to 5,123. The provinces most affected are always Sindh and Punjab, with 102,368 and 85,991 cases respectively. At least 4,042 people have recovered in the past 24 hours, for a total of 153,134 since the start of the pandemic. 2,156 patients remain in critical condition, 219 fewer than in the previous 24 hours.
