(ANSA) - TUNIS, JUL 11 - "The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (Unsmil) expresses deep concern about the recent clashes between criminal elements, including members of armed groups, in Janzour, a neighborhood populated by civilians in Tripoli." This is what Unsmil writes on Twitter in relation to the armed encounters of a few days ago between militias affiliated to the Government of national agreement (GNA) near Janzour, attributable reasons, according to local media to common crime events.
"These clashes frightened local residents and caused a number of casualties. The Mission condemns these perilous actions, as they directly endanger civilians at a time when Tripoli begins to recover from a 15-month long siege," writes Unsmil, warning as these "clashes underline the need for the GNA to move quickly for an effective and coordinated reform of the security, demobilization and reintegration sector" (by the militias).
