Economic activity has started to recover from very low levels but uncertainty remains high. The IMF states this in the document prepared for the G20 of finance ministers and central bank governors, which will be held virtually on 18 July. At the G20, the Fund calls for "collective efforts": "they are essential for ending the financial crisis and boosting growth".
"We have entered a new phase of the crisis, a phase that will require; further political agility and action to ensure a lasting and shared recovery". This was stated by the general manager of the IMF, Kristalina Georgieva, stressing that global economic activity "has gradually begun to strengthen. But we are not yet out of trouble".
