(ANSA) - ROME, JULY 23 - "We will not spare any effort to shed light on this tragic story, there is the utmost commitment on my part and by the Farnesina" to find out the truth about what happened to a "brilliant young man engaged in a very delicate mission". This was stated by Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maioin a question time in the Senate on the case of the cooperating Mario Paciolla, found dead in Colombia.
    The minister recalled that "from the beginning we have followed with the utmost attention" the case of Paciolla, found dead last July 15, while he was working as a UN co-volunteer to monitor the implementation of the pacecon agreement with the FARC. "Our embassy got in touch with Colombian authorities and family members and the Farnesina encouraged the UN to do its utmost," he added.
    "The investigations of the local police are underway and the Colombian authorities have ensured that the case is of absolute priority also for them. It followed at the highest level, with a top attorney, a specialized magistrate, a forensespecial team and expert investigators to come to the truth how much before, "explained Di Maio.
    As for the autopsy, "we await the result", and the repatriation of the body will take place "tomorrow", added the minister.
