(ANSA) - ROME, JULY 23 - Hundreds of migrants have landed in Italy in the past 48 hours. Among these, many in Lampedusa where, between rescue operations carried out in the waters in front of the island and landing on their own, only 15 boats with 294 migrants have arrived today. Six autonomous landings - with a minimum of 8 Tunisian and a maximum of 20 - occurred at Favarolo pier and at the commercial port. In a single intervention, just before dawn, the harbor master's office managed to track down three small boats with 103 people on board from Libya, Tunisia and Bangladesh. Despite the transfers arranged by the prefect of Agrigento to lighten the reception center in evident 'offer', which can accommodate a maximum of 95 people, 754 migrants remained inside the structure.
Several landings had also occurred yesterday, with sightings and rescues of small boats, in the waters in front of the island, as well as the landings directly on land, which continued throughout the night. Four boats - from 10 to 27 people on board, all Tunisians, for a total of 67 - who managed to arrive independently on the coast, without being intercepted by patrol boats. And the landings have not stopped: another 83 Tunisians, on several boats, have been rescued by the Coast Guard patrol boats.
Also yesterday evening, ninety migrants on an indifficulty boat south of Lampedusa entered Italian territorial waters and were taken on board by a patrol boat of the Guard of Finance that brought them to the island. (HANDLE).
