Peter Green, guitarist and co-founder of the famous British group Fleetwood Mac, has died at the age of 73, his family's lawyers announced this Saturday, July 25. He passed away "this weekend peacefully in his sleep," according to a statement from Swan Turton.
This blues and rock guitar virtuoso - whose talent and fluid style impressed BB King - founded Fleetwood Mac with drummer Mick Fleetwood in London in 1967.

"An unsung hero"
Author of titles like "Albatross" and "Oh Well" which shaped the style of the group and made its worldwide fame, he had also composed "Black Magic Woman", then immortalized by Carlos Santana in 1970. But that same year, problems mental disorders and addiction had forced him to leave the group and give up music for a while.

Peter Green was one of eight band members inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1998. Singer Cat Stevens paid tribute to Peter Green on Twitter, touting him as an "unsung hero" and hailing his " honesty and his musical inventiveness ” .
