(ANSA) - RAVENNA, JULY 30 - The President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella will open the celebrations for the 700th anniversary of the death of Dante Alighieri on September 5 at the Ravennale, which will involve the city, the Emilia-Romagna region and the whole country until September 2021, when, on Sunday 12th, a concert by the maestro Riccardo Muti in Piazza SanFrancesco will greet the conclusion of the events dedicated to the Italian language padredella. The concert, an integral part of a path of sharing between the cities of Dante, will be performed in the following days in Florence and Verona.
The program of 'Viva Dante-Ravenna 2020/2021' includes institutional, literary, exhibition, performance, educational and research events, accompanied - anticipate the promoters - "by structural interventions that will leave a tangible sign of this seventh centenary in a path that will pass beyond 2021 ".
The evening of 5 September, in the presence of the Head of State, will see the solemn reopening of the tomb and the nearby Braccioforte square, at the end of a restoration intervention that has returned to the Dante's sepulcher, designed by the architect Camillo Morigia, its original face, as well as inauguration of the new lighting.
